Album cover: Lissie

Lissie Album Cover

While looking at artists who are dominant on the cover of the album, I decided to search up other music albums by artists I listen to, and several of them are also the main feature on their album (some may not directly link to Regina Spektor type music but I felt it was necessary to see what other established artist feature on their cover)

Lenka        Two

The Family Jewels        Lights

All these album covers all feature the artist as the main images with the Marina and the Diamonds cover and Ellie Goulding cover both using close up shots of the artists with a minimal background. They both also just have their name and the name of the album written clearly on the front too.

The Lenka covers focus more on the background and colour of the font more than anything else. The two album covers are very different to each other in terms of misé-en-scene and use of font. The one to the left focuses on establishing the artists whereas the right one (which is the second album) features the name of the album too- this could suggest that the point of the left one was only used to make the artist recognised by many.

  1. Good work Jemma, having realised that your artist MUST feature on your cover you really need to decide on who your singer is going to be. The four you have highlighted above have varying levels of the male gaze in them, the middle two are quite traditional in their male gaze framing (blurred image, lips parted, hair thrown etc) whilst the other two are reasonably neutral.
